Father = Music

Some people are moved by Rock or Classical music.  It’s Jazz that moves me.  My father was a Jazz musician (trombone) and I remember his music and parties with other music makers.  I thought he was the coolest cat evah.  The first record (vinyl, kiddies) he gave me, some time during the 1950s, was Louis Armstrong.  He taught me about Ellington, Strayhorn, and Ella.  He chuckled when he listened to Kai and JJ, and used to wait for his favorite parts and say, “Here, listen!”  I loved him dearly.

And now Michelle Obama is hosting Jazz in the Whitehouse. It’s all good.
