Finished the shawl

Finally, the shawl is finished.  This is my first time using fine lace yarn (Cascade Alpaca Lace).  I used Addi lace needles, US3, and longed for even sharper points.  Maybe I’ll try KnitPicks next time and see if their points are better.  Did I say “next time?”  Not this year.  Very soon I must start knitting for the Chico Friends of the Library Craft Faire in November.  Actually, this shawl is made for the craft faire, but it’s on sale at Heartstrings Yarn Studio (9th & the Esplanade).  100% of the proceeds will be donated to CFOL’s Craft Faire.  If it doesn’t sell in the store, I’ll lower the price for sale at the Craft Faire.  If it doesn’t sell at the Craft Faire then it’s all mine :-)

Thank you, Karen, for being my lovely model.

Socks

I have been knitting socks for years, and now my sock drawer is too full.  It’s time to donate some, discard some, find a new target other than myself.  I would knit for Jan, but she really prefers REI hiking socks above all.  It looks like a charity is my next best intended recipient.

… I’m in a sock club this year and have two pairs of socks in progress, so this organizing binge must start pretty soon!

Garden

For the first time in my pretty long life I’m eating vegetables from my garden.  It turns out onions will grow in partial shade and all you have to do is stick them in the ground in the Fall.  Sautéed onions and mushrooms on top of BBQ’d meat is even better when the onions are fresh out of the garden.

Also in the garden this year are many, many birds and a couple of squirrels.  The cats are definitely entertained.

  2. Shawl is lovely. Should be great in that yarn: I saw some in that colour at the yarn store when I was in IL last weekend, and was very tempted.
